DLS Design: Web Design Case Studies
Client: AM Foodservice International
Background: The corporate parent of AM Foodservice needed
three different web sites for three related, but distinct businesses.
Each company services customers in the Middle East, Asia and/or
Africa, supplying the operations of commercial kitchens. SPI Parts
distributes replacement parts; AM Foodservice is an export rep;
and AMI Contract is a wholesale distributor.
Assignment: Over the course of two years, we were asked
to design three separate web sites. Each had particular challenges,
such as linkages with third-party databases or web sites. But each
had some things in common, such as foreign-language pages, and especially
the need for a strong branding statement.
Process: SPI Parts needed the heaviest makeover, with DLS
designing a simple logo using industrial letters which we modified
and added metallic color to. The foreign-language translations were
set as images, rather than html type, in order to sidestep browser
display issues.
We also achieved economies of scale for the client by hosting the
three sites on the same server, and building a common page for news
appearing on more than one site, thereby needing to be edited only
once.

In addition to building the web sites we've produced business-to-business
ads for AM, appearing in trade publications. See our page
on business-to-business
advertising.
Another service we provided was the design and printing of
a brochure. Already in posession of the files for the site
design, it was an easy process to move these into print. See
our section on design
for print.

for Industrial Companies.
