DLS Design: Logo Design Case Studies

Client: Praesidian Capital
Background: Praesidian is a $157 million private fund, providing
mezzanine debt for middle-market companies. The firm provides capital
for established companies as well as for management/leveraged buyouts,
recapitalizations and refinancings.
Assignment: DLS worked with a capital markets communications
firm which was charged with implementing a communication strategy
for Praesidian. Our piece was designing a logo and web site.
Process: We experimented with symbols having three parts,
in order to graphically symbolize mezzanine debt's position between
bank capital and shareholder equity (ie, stocks). Links and stair-steps
were among the images investigated. We felt these were too concrete,
and turned to abstract shapes. The diamonds were chosen for their
loose resemblence to links, especially when left open rather than
solid. From the middle of the first diamond the viewer should have
a sense of depth.
A web site was designed concurrently with the logo, at www.praesidian.com.
On the homepage only, the logo is animated using a simple animation
from Flash.
Outcome: The web site is regularly updated by DLS with new
deals. If you're bullish on the financial sector, hire
us for your next project.
