Background: Kreindler is the leading US plaintiffs' law
firm handling aviation litigation. They worked on the TWA Flight
800 case and virtually every other high-profile airline disaster.
Assignment: We were introduced to the firm to design a brochure; a logo was not explicitly assigned, but I felt a
symbol would enhance the design I had in mind. Law firm logos
follow a time-honored format, with serif-laden type and visual tricks employing ampersands. I wanted to create something unique, and realized the firm initials
K & K could be re-worked to suggest aircraft or wings, and that
this would work well as a repeating element on pages of a brochure, a web site, and stationery.
Process: Several versions of the logo were sketched after
the initial idea was accepted. It was especially important that
the symbol not be overly flashy or representational. In the corporate
brochure, it was used as an emboss as well as a foil-stamped element.
Outcome: The firm was pleased, and went on to hire us to
develop their web site, where the logo was animated and used as
a pointer in rollover items. View the firm web site at www.kreindler.com
